What's Inside

Seven chapters. All honest.

This isn't a brochure. It's the guide I wish I had before I started, including the parts most people in this industry leave out.

01

The Question That Started Everything

Why I couldn't put it down, and what it cost me to find the answer. Brad leaves before 5am during lobster season. That question is where this whole journey started.

02

How I Found My Way Here

The path was not straight. The timing was never perfect. I fell short the first time. I came back anyway, and I think that perspective is more useful to you than a polished success story.

03

What This Work Actually Is

Not a script. Not a pitch. Not a product pushed across a desk. What I actually do when I sit down with a family, and why most people discover at least one gap they didn't know was there.

04

The Kind of Life This Career Can Create

The flexibility is real. The income potential is real. The hard parts are also real, and I'm telling you all of them, because the people who know them going in are the ones who make it through.

05

How We Help Families Prepare for Their Futures

The educational approach behind every conversation. What an Expert Financial Analysis actually is, and why my job is not to sell a product.

06

How Helping Others Helped My Own Family Plan

The unexpected gift of building this career. Brad and I have had the honest conversation about our own coverage. That is the answer to the question I could not find before I started.

07

Your Workbook

Four sections to help you decide honestly: your why, your financial reality, where your career has to fit, and what your instinct is actually telling you.
The Honest Filter

Who this is right forand who it isn't.

I'd rather you know now than six months in.

  • Probably right for you if...

  • ✓ You're carrying a question about your family's financial future that you can't quite put down

✓ Mat leave is ending and you're not ready to go back to what you had

✓ You need income that genuinely fits around your kids and your life

✓ You're self-motivated, you don't need someone checking whether you showed up

✓ You genuinely care about the families you'd be sitting down with

✓ You're playing a long game, not looking for a quick fix

✓ You have some financial runway to build before income compounds

  • → Probably not right for you if...

  • → You need guaranteed income immediately with no runway

→ You're not willing to complete a licensing process before you earn

→ You want passive income without active work in year one first

→ You struggle to follow through without external accountability

→ You're only in it for the money and don't care about the families you'd help

    → You're expecting a get-rich-overnight result

Who Wrote This

Not the finished version. The in-progress one.

I'm Kayt Halliday, licensed insurance agent with Experior Financial Group in Nova Scotia. Mom of three. Partner to a lobster fisherman. Homesteader on 110 acres in rural Nova Scotia. I build this business from my kitchen table during nap windows and after bedtime.
I fell short of my licensing exam the first time, eight months pregnant, exhausted, life too heavy in that season. Four months later, with a newborn at home and mat leave running out, I came back and finished the course in two weeks. I passed. And then I started building.
I wrote this guide because the information most people receive about this career is either incomplete or polished in a way that doesn't serve them. You deserve the real version. I'm not telling you this from the top of a mountain. I'm telling you from the climb.
