Before this, I ran an online boutique, spent a year and a half in P&C insurance, and spent a lot of time trying to find work that actually fit the life I was living, not the life I thought I should have. Brad is a lobster fisherman. Income doesn't come on a salary schedule here. I know what it feels like when a season ends and the pressure quietly builds.

I started this licensing course eight months pregnant in the hardest financial stretch we'd been through as a couple. I didn't finish it that round. Life was too heavy. But I put it down knowing I'd come back, and that distinction mattered more than I realised at the time.

Our daughter Rainey was born in November. A week later, lobster season started. Brad's mum showed up every single day without being asked, cooked, chased the toddler, let me rest. I'll never have words for what that meant. But it's part of why this work matters to me. The people who show up in the hard seasons are exactly who I'm trying to protect.

I finished the course in two weeks on mat leave and passed my provincial exam. Not because conditions were perfect, they weren't. Because I finally understood they never would be.

I build this business in nap windows, evenings, and the occasional quiet morning before everyone wakes up. Every family I sit down with gets a real conversation, no pitch, no product shelf to push. Just honest advice about what actually makes sense for them.

That's what I'm building. The in-progress version. And I'm starting to think that is the point.
